Terms Explained

Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as controlled breathing, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.


Guided meditation is a process by which one or more participants meditate in response to the guidance provided by a trained practitioner or teacher, either in person or via a written text, sound recording, video, or audio-visual media comprising music or verbal instruction, or a combination of both.


Mindfulness is the practice of purposely bringing one's attention in the present moment without worry or emotional over-engagement on the other hand. Mindfulness can also be viewed as a means to develop self-knowledge and wisdom.


Spiritual practice or spiritual discipline (often including spiritual exercises like Yoga) is the regular or full-time performance of actions and activities undertaken for the purpose of inducing spiritual enlightenment and cultivating spiritual development. A common metaphor used in the spiritual traditions of the world's great religions is that of walking a path.


Mantra is a sacred utterance, a numinous sound, a syllable, word or phonemes, or group of words in Sanskrit, and other languages believed by practitioners to have religious, magical or spiritual powers. Some mantras have a syntactic structure and literal meaning, while others do not.


Flow or flow state, also known colloquially as being in the zone, is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by the complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting transformation in one's sense of time.


Human/Bio Energy, Humans require energy to stay alive, such as the energy humans get from food. Human civilization requires energy to function, which it gets from energy resources.


Mind is the set of faculties including The mind is the set of faculties including cognitive aspects such as consciousness, imagination, perception, thinking, intelligence, judgement, language and memory, as well as noncognitive aspects such as emotion and instinct.


State of Mind The psychological state of someone's cognitive processes at a certain time; the condition or character of a person's thoughts or feelings.

Synonym: frame of mind.


Self-help or self-improvement is a self-guided improvement, economically, intellectually, or emotionally—often with a substantial psychological basis.
